Frequently asked questions

What makes Pilum Tactical different from other training centers?

Pilum Tactical is not your ordinary firearms training facility. Our instructors are elite professionals with backgrounds in the Military, Law Enforcement, GRS, Marine Raiders, and Navy SEALs. This expertise ensures you receive real-world, battle-tested instruction in a safe, approachable, and professional environment.

Who can Attend Your Training Courses?

We welcome civilians of all experience levels — from beginners who have never touched a firearm, to seasoned shooters looking to sharpen advanced tactical skills. Our courses are structured to support:

  • First-time gun owners
  • Concealed Carry (CCW) applicants
  • Enthusiasts seeking advanced pistol or carbine skills
  • Security professionals and executive protection agents
Do I need prior firearms experience?

No. Many of our students start with zero experience. Courses like Pistol I / CCW and Intro to Carbine are designed for beginners and provide a strong foundation in firearm safety, handling, and legal considerations.

What types of courses do you offer?

Pilum Tactical provides training across all levels:

  • Beginner: Firearms fundamentals, CCW certification, and range orientation
  • Intermediate: Skill Builder courses, defensive shooting, shoot/no-shoot scenarios
  • Advanced: Carbine rifle training, dynamic movement, executive protection, and tactical scenarios where “bad guys shoot back”.
Do your courses meet Concealed Carry (CCW) permit requirements?

Yes. Our Pistol I / CCW course covers all Colorado state requirements for a Concealed Handgun Permit. Students receive a certificate upon completion that can be used to apply for their CCW.

What gear or equipment do I need?
  • A pistol or rifle (rentals available if needed)
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Holster, belt, and magazines
  • Ammunition (course dependent)
Specific gear lists are provided upon registration
What if I need to reschedule or cancel a class?

Cancellations made more than 72 hours in advance are eligible for a full refund or transfer. Cancellations within 24–72 hours may transfer to another course for a small rescheduling fee. Same-day cancellations or no-shows are non-refundable.
