Documentation & Report Writing
This module provides structured, professional training in effective report writing, a critical skill for security officers and private security professionals. Accurate documentation is essential for incident review, client communication, and legal defensibility, and this course establishes a clear standard for professional reporting.
Students learn how to document incidents clearly, objectively, and concisely by applying the foundational reporting framework known as the “5 W’s”:
• Who was involved
• What occurred
• When the incident took place
• Where the incident occurred
• Why the response or action was taken
The course emphasizes factual, unbiased reporting as the cornerstone of professional security documentation. Students are taught how to separate observations from assumptions, use clear language, and create reports that accurately reflect events without personal opinion or speculation.
By the end of this module, students will understand how professional report writing supports accountability, operational continuity, and legal protection, ensuring their documentation meets the expectations of employers, clients, and regulatory authorities.
